Music Fundamentals
Students at Round Rock Music Academy learn to read and count music by studying a variety of music styles. Lessons are designed to educate students with classical, contemporary, blues, and jazz repertoire, which provide a solid and stimulating musical foundation. New material is assigned weekly to develop students’ interests. The end result is a well-rounded musician.
Music theory is also taught using fun and challenging games introduced in computer lab. Music theory games are stimulating and geared to meet each student's individual level and need.
Composition
Learning scales and chords is enjoyable when you utilize what you are learning by writing songs! This is a practical study in composing pop music. Students use their knowledge of scales and chords to learn beginning composition. Students enjoy the challenge of scoring what they have written in Print Music, and at the end of the semester students perform their very own song!
Events
Several special music performances are scheduled throughout the school year to allow students to showcase their musical skills and to develop confidence in performance. Also offered is Piano Guild which is a yearly adjudicated performance, a Christmas and Spring recital and the rock bands perform an exhilarating concert.
Improvisation
Learn to jam with Music Explorers! Improvisation is a key technique for any musician. Round Rock Music encourages musical personality to flourish during multi-instrument jam sessions that build important music skills. Through structured jam sessions, students learn the importance of why scales and chords are essential to the knowledge of musicians.
Students learn how to be creative with the use of scales and chords. They learn to listen to the other band participants and they are encouraged to use their imagination to effectively orchestrate a melody that compliments the other band members. Music Explorers is a fun and safe atmosphere that challenges students to grow musically.
Private Lessons
Cindi offers private instruction for piano, guitar, voice and drums for beginners to the late intermediate student.
Students are challenged weekly to read and count music and recognize music symbols and notation. Students also learn scales, chords, music theory, and compositon, and ear training. You can choose from a weekly 30 or 45-minute lesson with each lesson having an additional
15-minutes computer lab time.
