Thank-you for considering me as your music teacher. I believe every student has unique abilities, and it is my desire to bring forth those talents. I have been teaching a very active music studio since 1989. I love teaching music and I am excited when a student has been inspired to play.
I have performed and studied music throughout my life, starting with piano lessons at a young age. Later, I began playing the guitar and eventually performed in several bands. I am currently continuing my music education in jazz studies. I have composed, produced and recorded two contemporary Christian CD’s, which opened the door for me to tour the country performing and sharing the good news of the Gospel.
Leading and directing choirs and orchestrating band arrangements for various churches is one of my greatest joys. My desire as a music director is to concentrate on the personal needs of each musician. I also focus on the personal needs, goals, and talents of each of my students.
I believe it is important to teach students how to read and count music, which is the core of all music study. I also teach a variety of instruments and styles so students gain a balanced music education. The end result is a happy and enthusiastic student that enjoys music lessons!
Craig Stowell
Craig has many years playing the bass guitar for rock bands, worship bands, and jazz bands. His repertoire includes hundreds of songs. He knows how to read music in the bass clef and he knows his scales and how to apply walking bass lines to any genre of music. Craig has recorded and added his bass lines to several music projects over the years. Craig teaches bass players how to add the groove to the band.
As a drum teacher he teaches students the rudiments and necessary skills for successful band participation. Craigʼs forte is developing students to play basic rhythms quickly while learning from a repertoire of classic rock songs. He expands the studentʼs
ability to hear and play songs along with him on bass. It is extremely important for drummers to accurately develop good listening skills and become tight with the bass player. As soon as good rhythm skills are mastered students are placed in a band playing with other students. This is a very exciting way to learn!
(First semester drum students do not need a drum set at home for practice.)
Craig is also a very successful and talented sound engineer. He has recorded several projects both in his home studio and professional studio. As a sound engineer he produces a beautiful, rich, and dynamic live sound for bands and individual artists. He has mentored and equipped many church sound volunteers to adequately know the sound board. He teaches the importance of each instrumentʼs frequencies and how all instruments and vocals must compliment each other. He has also recommended quality equipment for every budget. Craig is available to teach individual, group, or church sound engineering classes.
