Round Rock Music Academy offers lessons in:

Round Rock Music Academy students learn the important fundamentals essential to all music study by learning to read music and count note values. Students learn from an extensive category of great songs including classical repertoire, and jazz, blues, and rock repertoire. Our desire is to instill a love and an appreciation of music by allowing students to play songs that motivate them to practice.

What distinguishes Round Rock Music Academy from other music studios is the sincere desire to mentor students in their God-given talent. Students are given many opportunities to explore the different instruments in Music Explorers, or participate in a rock band, or just experience the joy of getting together with other students to play music together in a fun and positive atmosphere. As students progress in their weekly music lessons they are given opportunities to advance.

Students displaying a talent in composing are encouraged and trained in the artistic expression of music composition. Several students have composed song sheets and song books and have learned to successfully use the Print Music software. The result has led to other students being inspired to compose. Students endowed with the aptitude in singing and playing are also compassionately mentored. All students are given several opportunities in the semester to showcase what they have learned by performing in small venues, recitals and Guild.

Students also have the exciting opportunity to participate in Music Explorers and group band ensembles. Students learn in band playing that no musician is independent of the whole, and yet each musician is a part of that whole, with a unique part and sound. As part of the curriculum Music Explorers convenes once a semester for a 60-minute lesson and allows students to play and explore the many different band instruments including drums, guitar, and the multi faceted dimensions and sounds of the keyboard. Ensemble playing also promotes cooperation and respect by learning to value other band members. Students learn the significance of successful orchestration by listening to the importance of each band members role. Students also learn the importance of providing a steady rhythm to the other band players by hands-on experience playing drums. Learning to play and read rhythms is essential to playing and performing good music no matter what instrument you play. Students also have the opportunity to play electric guitar and keyboards and to learn the importance and value of each instrument added to ensemble or rock band playing. No matter what instrument a student chooses to take lessons on, all students greatly benefit from participating in Music Explorers.

at Round Rock Music Academy we also offer students the superb option to participate in The School of Rock band playing. Students that have successfully completed phase 1 may audition for band. Students enrolled in The School of Rock advance their music education by learning to play blues scales and chords, and the blues chord progression. They learn the fun way how to play and implement major and minor chords and scales and how to apply their own unique personal style and creativity in a fun and safe group environment. Students participating in the program evolve into musicians by learning the great classic rock songs and by playing with other age and skill appropriate students.
